The purpose of this app is to estimate emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) from fixed and floating roof liquid storage tanks. The user inputs the tank dimensions and conditions, ambient conditions, and component specifications, and the app calculates the estimated emissions from the specified type of tank. The calculations from this app were derived from the “Emission Factor Documentation for AP-42, Section 7.1” EPA report from September of 2006.
The app contains a tab for the two types of liquid storage tanks: fixed roof and floating roof. In each tab the user can further specify the tank in question (i.e. dimensions, component specifications, etc.). The calculated values are merely estimates—they are not to be used for a design basis or for reporting purposes. The intent of the calculations is to allow the user to acquire a general idea of what his/her emissions are and whether or not adjustments to the process are necessary.
